Week 1: Project Scheduling Foundations

Day 1 (Monday): Introduction to Project Management and Scheduling Careers
Learning Objectives
  • Explain the five phases of the project life cycle
  • Describe the role and daily responsibilities of a Project Scheduler
  • Define Project Controls and where scheduling fits within a PMO
  • Identify the industries and job markets actively hiring scheduler
Day 2 (Tuesday): Work Breakdown Structure and Schedule Building Blocks
Learning Objectives
  • Decompose a project scope into a Work Breakdown Structure
  • Distinguish deliverables, milestones, and activities
  • Build an activity list from a WBS
  • Configure project and resource calendar
Day 3 (Wednesday): Dependencies, Critical Path, and Schedule Logic
Learning Objectives
  • Apply the four dependency types: FS, SS, FF, SF
  • Use leads and lags correctly
  • Calculate critical path, total float, and free float by hand
  • Read and draw a network diagram
Day 4 (Thursday): Introduction to Oracle Primavera P6
Learning Objectives
  • Navigate the P6 Professional interface
  • Explain the Enterprise Project Structure and OBS
  • Create a new project with correct settings
  • Build calendars and enter activities in P6

  • Hospital Construction Schedule (P6, in progress)
  • Healthcare EMR Implementation Schedule (assigned as guided weekend project)
  • Office Building Renovation Schedule (assigned as guided weekend project)

Week 2: Primavera, Microsoft Project, and Project Controls

Day 5 (Monday): Primavera Relationships, Constraints, Baselines, and Scheduling
Learning Objectives
  • Link activities with all four relationship types in P6
  • Apply constraints appropriately and know when not to
  • Set and maintain baselines
  • Run the P6 scheduler (F9) and interpret the schedule log
Day 6 (Tuesday): Microsoft Project, Gantt Charts, and Resource Management
Learning Objectives
  • Build a complete schedule in Microsoft Project
  • Format and present Gantt charts for executives
  • Assign resources and resolve overallocations with leveling
Day 7 (Wednesday): Project Controls and Earned Value Management
Learning Objectives
  • Explain the purpose of project controls in monitoring and controlling
  • Calculate PV, EV, AC, CPI, SPI, CV, SV, EAC, and ETC
  • Interpret earned value results and recommend corrective action
Day 8 (Thursday): Risk, Change Control, and Executive Reporting
Learning Objectives
  • Build and maintain a risk register
  • Run a change control process from request to schedule impact
  • Maintain an issue log
  • Produce a one page executive status report

  • ERP Implementation Schedule (P6)
  • Cloud Data Center Migration (MS Project)
  • Smart Manufacturing Expansion with EVM tracker (P6 plus Excel)
  • Risk Register and Executive Status Report

Week 3: Automation, AI, and Capstone

Day 9 (Monday): Microsoft Power Automate for Project Workflows
Learning Objectives
  • Build automated flows using triggers, conditions, and actions
  • Automate project status notifications and approvals
  • Connect Power Automate to SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, and Excel
Day 10 (Tuesday): Microsoft Power BI Dashboards and Reporting
Learning Objectives
  • Connect Power BI to project data from Excel and SharePoint
  • Build KPI visuals for schedule and cost performance
  • Publish an interactive executive dashboard
Day 11 (Wednesday): Microsoft Copilot, AI for Scheduling, and Interview Prep
Learning Objectives
  • Use AI to draft project plans, WBS structures, and schedules
  • Use AI to analyze schedule health and optimize logic
  • Generate AI written executive status reports
  • Answer common scheduler interview questions with confidence
Day 12 (Thursday): Final Capstone Presentation
Capstone: Regional Medical Center Digital Modernization
Each student presents a complete project package:
  1. Oracle Primavera P6 Schedule with baseline and updated progress
  2. Microsoft Project Schedule
  3. Work Breakdown Structure
  4. Resource Plan
  5. Risk Register
  6. Budget Tracker with CPI and SPI
  7. Power BI Dashboard
  8. Power Automate Workflow
  9. AI Generated Executive Status Report
  10. Executive Presentation (10 minutes plus Q&A)
Capstone Grading Criteria
  • Schedule quality: logic, critical path, no open ends, realistic durations (30 percent)
  • Project controls: baseline variance, EVM accuracy, risk register quality (25 percent)
  • Automation and reporting: dashboard and workflow functionality (25 percent)
  • Presentation: clarity, executive communication, Q&A handling (20 percent)

  • Attend at least 90 percent of all live classes
  • Complete all 10 quizzes and assignments
  • Complete all 10 hands-on projects
  • Pass the final capstone presentation
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power Automate, and Power BI
